REVIEW: Embracing the Traditions of the Beltane Fire Festival on Calton Hill, Edinburgh

Writer's picture: Jenna CockburnJenna Cockburn

Tuesday night saw the May Queen and the Green Man come together to bring in the Summer at the Beltane Fire Festival on Calton Hill in Edinburgh.

It was a true spectacle with impressive fire displays, beautiful costumes, and dedicated performers. But it was REALLY busy! To the point, it was hard to get close enough to see every performance and display.

With over 8,500 people attending the ancient traditional celebration that goes back to the Iron Age, Beltane went on until the wee hours of the morning.
